Color Me Rad 5k

This race was SO awesome- I might just do it each year!  You wear white and run 3 miles with 5 different coloring stations where they throw colored corn starch or colored water at you.  Then they have a finale at the end where everyone has a small bag of colored corn starch.  They count down and everyone throws it up in the air at the same time.  Sounds hokey, but it was a blast!  And kids can run for free- or join you at the end [which is what Serra & Alex did].

Here is my friend, Mandy, and me at the beginning all sparkly clean & white!

I'm laughing at how well they threw stuff at Mandy at this station.

At the end of the race, picking up the kids to take them to the color blast at the finale.

A picture of the color blast finale [they counted down every 10 minutes or something so that everyone could participate at least once after finishing the race.]

All colored- Serra loved the color blast, Alex was a little terrified, but loved seeing the color land on me & Serra.

Mandy & me not so sparkly clean & white anymore!

Posing one last time with the kids before taking off the painted clothes and getting in the car!

Showing off just how colored I was- look at my upper thighs and shoulders!

Ian's Birthday

I know I'm REALLY behind on posts- so you'll be seeing a LOT today!  For Ian's birthday, we went on our first hike.  We have yet to go on another one, but hopefully we'll get the habit going again soon.  We went to one that led to a waterfall- which the kids were pretty excited about!

Serra took this last picture- I need to get her a camera because she loves to take pictures, but I'm afraid every time I give her my camera that she'll drop it!  Maybe I just need to let go...

Japanese Cherry Blossoms

I've fallen in love with the newer Japanese cherry blossom look for decorating a nursery.  But I have no need for a nursery... so I was thinking it could fit perfectly with my color scheme and the mood I want for Serra's room when she and Alex no longer share.  So I've been on the lookout for ideas for decorating when I remembered that Utah County has tons of these beautiful pink blossom trees and I have a camera!  Then I lucked out because there was a gorgeous tree just 2 doors down from my sister's house- so I took some pictures a couple of days ago.  What do you think?  I'm not sure which ones I'll frame for her room- it depends on how everything else turns out.

Discovery Gateway

Discovery Gateway had a free pass day this last month and so, of course, we took advantage of it- turned out we needed to be in Salt Lake that day anyway!  It was so much fun, but I would never pay the full price- $8.50 even for a 2 year old?... that's a bit much!

It's hard to tell in this picture, but there were funny mirrors that made you short and fat or tall and skinny- Serra LOVED this one that made her really tall and skinny.

Alex loved making paper airplanes and throwing them in the air tube to watch them fly.

They both loved the kid K'nex stations.

And there was a busy bee ball area that they both loved most of all- I ended up putting the camera away after this shot because they were all over the place and there were so many kids that I didn't want to lose one of them!

The other area they loved that I didn't get any pictures of was an area where they could pretend to be adults- there were costumes/uniforms for mailman, fireman, grocer, etc. and a house to make food or clean, a store to shop in, cars to 'drive'.  It was a fun place- but they both scattered and so the camera didn't get to come out there either.  I grabbed some discount coupons, so perhaps when I feel like being a little spendy we'll go back another day and I'll bring back-up!

Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake

Last month the Tracy Aviary only cost $1 on Wednesdays to go see and play with all the birds.  So we had a picnic at Daddy's work and then stopped by.  Alex loved it- Serra was apprehensive when she realized the birds could "come after her", but she eventually warmed up.

 Looking at all the ducks.

 They love photo props.  :)

I was trying to take a picture of Serra and Alex with the peacocks, but Serra decided it would be better if she took a picture of Alex and me- that way she could be far from the peacocks and see what they were doing.  Alex wasn't a big fan of holding still long enough for Serra to take the picture...

Fun Times

One of the times we went to get our Bountiful Basket full of fruits & veggies the fire station had it's fire truck sitting right out front- Serra couldn't resist!

Serra LOVES this bed at RCWilley- I keep telling her to dream on!

We went to Burger King- they've updated their crowns for the kids apparently.

One morning while I was away, Ian and the kids decided to build a snowman- Serra loved the snowman.  :)

Serra and Alex were invited to a superhero birthday party for my cousin's son- so we ALL dressed up!
