July

It's been a fun month so far. July is Picnic Month- so Serra and I have been taking advantage and picnicking nearly every weekday. It helps that here in Pocatello they have a free lunches for kids under 19 program at certain parks. We've also been going to the "real" theater [not a cheapy one] to watch kids movies for $1 on Tuesdays. And we've started going to the library story time and movies on Mondays. It's been fun bonding with Serra in our different activities.

However, Serra has also provided the majority of my stress this month. She's either getting in the last of her terrible twos or starting what I've heard people refer to as the "threatening threes"... can't wait for the "ferocious fours"! AND... she kind of fell off the potty training wagon, so we get to start that all up again. I've tried using more patience with her and it seems to be working to keep us from getting in yelling matches and making me want to spank her all the time- hopefully I can keep it up. She certainly can be a difficult child- and a hard one to contain at times!

Alex is growing more and more each day- he's not a chunk, but he's definitely bigger. Last time I weighed him myself he was 11 pounds- that was about a week ago. He cries a little more now and night time has gotten to be a little more frustrating with him wanting to be held and rocked to sleep. I didn't remember that stage starting this early with Serra, so we'll see if that's a good thing or a bad thing!

And lastly, we drove down to Utah last week to see my little sister get married. Paige and Mark looked wonderful- and so happy. I'm very happy for them and wish them the best. Serra was very sad staying at Aunt Paige's without her Aunt Paige [they'd left on their honeymoon]. But hanging out with her cousins and some friends helped out. We're home now and need to get back in the swing of things- picnics, movies & stories! :)

I don't have a lot of the wedding pictures on my camera, so I'll post them when I get them from various people- check back later! And just in case I don't post again- or forget to mention it when I do post again... July 31st is Parent's Day. I say leave your kids with a babysitter and go out on a date to celebrate, but I've heard of others spending the day being great parents and having fun with their kids... whatever floats your boat. August is Make a Will Month [more talk about this next month] and Eye Exam Month.

Happy Fourth of July!

We took a sort of last-minute trip up to Durham, California to visit Ian's grandma. We haven't seen her since before I was pregnant with Serra, so it was nice to get together and catch up. We made a lot of great memories [I think Serra's favorite part was that Great-Grandma had a swimming pool and she made sure we let her use it each day!]

Bath time! [yes, Alex has more of my skin tone- NOT Daddy's and Serra's.]
Silly Alex...
