Marathon Training & Cutie Pies

I'm amazed at how much I've changed just in a couple months of training for my marathon [it's June 25th- just 14 weeks away now!] I've changed physically- picture to follow. I've lost some weight, my legs are toned more than they've ever been, and I've pretty much completely rid myself of my sciatica! I feel great, energized, enthusiastic- at least after I get a run in I do. :) I've also changed emotionally/mentally- I've gained confidence in myself, I've learned to appreciate my body the way it is and the wonderful things it can accomplish, I've learned to mentally push myself beyond boundaries. It's been a wonderful experience. I still don't know if I'll continue to do marathons or just shorter races after this- I guess we'll see! But for now, I'm excited about THIS marathon and the results I've received already from training- can't wait to see what happens in the next 14 weeks!

I also had to include some pictures of my two cutie pies- here's Serra sitting in the EXACT position I've seen Ian sit in when he's at his computer chair and talking to me. And I mean E-X-A-C-T.

Silly, Alex, those aren't REAL food!

And it's so rare that I get a good picture of Serra's REAL smile- it's always a forced, silly thing. So while you can't really see it in this picture either, it's the closest I've gotten in a while to proof that Serra has a BEAUTIFUL natural smile!

Whoa Kristen you look HOT!!! I feel the same way about training.
When I was struggling with life some friends of mine invited me to start training for that first half marathon I did, and even though I wasn't a runner, I needed to do something besides feel alone. And I tell you, I felt so proud of myself when I crossed that finish line. It felt SO good, knowing that I accomplished something amazing. by. myself. It was nice to have something else awesome that I did besides raising kids (which of course is awesome too).

I'm so proud of you! And I can't wait to see you in 14 weeks!!!

p.s. Your kids are SOOOOOO cute! Oh that silly Serra! I love her! p.p.s. I want to squish Alex's cheeks.

p.p.p.s. You are HOT!!!

you look like you could take on the world! it seems like everyone is taking up running. last year i started walking, quickly, i think you remember my quick walk... anyway, i did that for about 6 weeks and lost about 12lbs, which i promptly gained back when i visited ohio for 2 weeks. i have since stopped exercising, and i feel like a bum. maybe i will start something up again.
i used to think that exercising would leave me tired, but in actuality, it made me more energetic!
keep up the good work! i look forward to hearing about your marathon experience!

Dear Kristen,

You will pretty much kick our butts at the race. It's a good thing your butt looks good, because Amy and I will be chasing it the entire time. PS I LOVE that Serra sits like Ian. I also love Alex's cute little face.

Love,
Lorie

Thanks everybody. I still have a ways to go- especially in certain *ahem* areas... pregnancy has really stretched out my skin [and deposited extra fat] in a few places. So need to work on some toning! But it feels good to get all the compliments. :)
