To Mom...

Today would have been my mother's 49th birthday. She always loved her birthday because it was easy to remember: March "forth" [fourth]. I don't remember that last time we celebrated her birthday- my memories from then are a little fuzzy- but I do remember the celebrating in general. Mom would usually make us our favorite meal for dinner for our birthdays. But for hers, Dad would make it- or most likely we'd go out- so she could have a break. Those of you who knew my mother would agree that she was always a very cheerful person- fun to be around. Even when she was in pain, you wouldn't know because she always had a smile on her face and was more worried about everyone else than what was going on with her. I've been thinking about her a lot lately- probably because I am a mother myself now and understand her love for me a little better because of it. But also just because in general I miss her- and wish I had her advice and guidance during this time in my life. I know that at times she is with me [and my siblings], and I hope that she is still happy and able to enjoy her birthday. Happy birthday, mom!

Happy birthday to your Mom. I'm glad that you were able to take a special moment and record your thoughts about your mom. She was an amazing woman and so are you. I'm sure she's very proud of you.

Your mom was so awesome! I remember when we were getting ready for one of the dances and she was more worried about teaching us how to walk in freakin "stiletto"shoes then getting the rest she probably desperatly needed! I can only imagine what it would be like in your shoes (makes me think twice about my mom constantly harrassing me about mine!) hugs and kisses!!

Yes, that was my mother in her teen years- she had the picture taken because it was a new haircut. :)

Thank you for honoring your Mom on her Birthday!

I remember when Doug and I got engaged and showed her our engagement ring...she said
"Is that a promise me ring?"
(A 'Promise Me Ring' was a a ring that was usually a extremely small diamond ring that one could buy when one was 'going steady' but not engaged!)
Anyway, Doug said "I hope so"!
It went over her head...but she was smiling anyway....and so happy. She was always happy!

I remember she and I went to see Neal Diamond in concert. We drove to Las Cruces, New Mexico and swooned over Neal Diamond when he was promoting his album "Jonathan Livingston Seagul".

Your Mom was an amazing woman! It was so fun to see her fall in love! She loved being in love with your Dad and LOVED being a Mother. She was always so proud of her babies.
I remember being envious of her in a way, because no matter how she felt she kept traditions going and loved being creative! She was always a GOOD girl and woman. She loved the Lord and always trusted and served Him.

Words seem so hollow in trying to describe her....

You must always know that your Mother loved you and I'm sure is with you often. I know she misses being with you and your cute family. I'm sorry that you don't have her here...but I am so sure you won't be denied the blessings that a Mother can bring you. Our Heavenly Father loves you and knows your pain for not having Debra here....you will be compensated for this loss...I really believe that!

Happy Birthday Debra...we love you!

I never see or say the date 3/4 without thinking of Debbie's birthday...and the enthusiastic way she said "March Forth!"
She was always cheerful, and I often wished more of my family had chosen to stay in Calif. We would have had fun raising 'close cousins'.
